Frequently asked questions

 WEDDINGS

Q: When will I receive my wedding photos and Photo Book?

A: Photo-processing depends on a number of factors including the season you are married in, the package you have chosen and how many photos we took during the course of your day/week.  Taking these factors into account, we will be happy to discuss an approximate completion date with you.  Normally however, your photos, photo book and final package are usually delivered to you within 4-6 weeks from your wedding date barring any special circumstances.

Q: Will you be staying for dinner?

A: As we will be by your side for the better part of the day, we would appreciate to be included in any and all meal arrangements.  It is also best to designate a spot for us in amongst the guests so we can be ready to jump up and capture an unexpected moment, and keep with the flow and energy of your day.  If this is not possible however, being kept as close to the “action” as possible is always appreciated.

Q: What happens if you’re sick?

A: Honestly, we will be there rain or shine – whether we are on top of the weather or “under” it.  Should the unthinkable happen however and your chosen photographer is completely unable for some reason to attend, we will do our best to find an acceptable, replacement photographer for you.

Q: Do you have an appearance policy for weddings?

A: Absolutely.  Your wedding deserves respect.  Our attire on your wedding day is chosen to fulfill our needs as a photographer as well as promote a professional impression.  If you’re having a theme wedding, we will attempt to blend in with your theme as much as possible.

ENGAGEMENTS/PRE WEDDING

Q: What should we do the engagement / pre wedding photo session?

A: Think of your pre-wedding photo session as a trial run for your big day. Having an unfamiliar person waving a huge camera around you on probably the biggest day of your life so far is daunting for you, and your partner. Your wedding day shouldn’t be your first experience with professional photography. And HERE are also few reasons why.

Q: When do you usually have engagement photo session?

A:

Q: How far in advance do you book?

A: Most weddings are booked 3-12 months in advance of the wedding date. However, it’s always worth emailing to see if your date is still available before! Pre – wedding sessions are booked 14 days before wedding. Portrait sessions are booked about 1 month or few weeks in advance.

BOUDOIR

1. What locations do you use for the photo session?

Why you should ask: It is completely appropriate to find out where your boudoir photo session will take place. You want to feel comfortable and free in this setting. You may even ask to see the location in-person before signing a contract.

OpieFoto’s Answer: We have two bedroom studios in a private home for the exclusive use of our clients. Our all-female staff will assist in all aspects of the photo production.

2. What should I wear?

Why you should ask: Experienced photographers have learned what types of clothing work best to create the perfect mood and visual aesthetic. Ask your photographer for some recommended guidelines for what to wear and what not to wear.

OpieFoto’s Answer: I highly recommend that clients bring a variety of outfits, especially including a black lingerie set. Also, if your fiancé has given you any items of intimate wear, bring those. Additionally, I offer a selection of outfits and props that you can try out during your photo shoot. Sometimes trying something new results in the best photos!

3. Should I bring any photo props?

Why you should ask: Some items may be unsuitable for boudoir photo shoots, while others may be just right. Ask your photographer for prop recommendations.

OpieFoto’s Answer: Definitely bring a few well-selected props that are telling of your personality and relationship with your fiancé. Unique items of jewelry, favorite books, his work shirt, and heels are just a few examples of what you could bring.

4. What poses will I be making?

Why you should ask: Some photographers may have a certain style or regular poses that you may or may not be comfortable with. Don’t be afraid to ask, boudoir photographers are usually quite frank. You can also request to see examples from the photographer’s portfolio to better understand his/her style.

OpieFoto’s Answer: My goal is to create unique, sexy, flattering portraits for all women regardless of body type or age. There is no need to know how to pose, I will guide you through each pose and I know exactly which angles to capture that best exemplify the beautiful woman you are. And there will never be any pressure to reveal more skin than you are comfortable with.

5. How long before I see the photos?

Why you should ask: Each photographer offers different timelines for photo turn-around. It takes time to properly edit and retouch professional photos.

OpieFoto’s Answer: There are two options for ordering copies of your boudoir session photos. 1.) After your session grab lunch or a snack and return to order your photos the same day in-studio! 2.) We will set up another date and time for you to come over and order your photos in the studio.

FAMILY

Q: We are looking for a maternity photographer. My love is currently almost 30 weeks pregnant. What is the best time for a pregnancy photo shoot? How long will it take? What does the session include and what kind of investment are we looking at?

A: The best maternity photos are taken right around 30 weeks. That’s when belly gets really round, but it’s not too heavy yet. Of course each pregnancy and pregnant belly is different so use your own stamina as a guide.
Usually it takes about 2-3 hours to take photos but again it all depends on what kind of photos you desire. We can take maternity photos inside or outside (park,..). And of course we can combine both. Investment for maternity photo sessions starts at 150 $. That includes basic maternity photo session inside or outside. We provide you with 20 high quality fine art photos and 3 photo prints.

NEWBORN

What is the best time to plan your newborn baby photo shoot? You will get the most successful pictures if your baby is no more than 2 weeks of age. This is the time when newborns sleep deeply and are more “womb-like”, so the photographer will be able to properly pose your baby and capture it in the best way.

Newborn pictures are really important and we understand all the uncertainties and anxiety you may feel while searching for the perfect newborn photographer. Soply will be happy to help you to find the best newborn photographer. In our community, we have the top newborn photographers who have an experience, love children, and have all necessary equipment and props to make the photos of your newborn just brilliant.

Experience: One of the most important questions you should ask is about the photographer’s experience. Newborn portraiture is a specialized field and it’s important to know that the photographer has had some specific training or completed some workshops, and therefore has all necessary skills in handling and posing newborns.

Props/ Studio Setting: You’ve definitely seen many beautiful  newborn photo shoots with many amazing accessories.  If you like this style of newborn photography, make sure that the photographer you want to hire has all the necessary props like baskets, hats, buckets, etc., or if you can bring your own. The accessories the baby photographer has should also be safe for newborns and well-made.

Including the Family: If you want your family and siblings to be included in the photo session, make sure that the photographer is comfortable with this kind of newborn session. Discuss the wardrobe, poses and the price, as some photographers may increase the price depending on the number of people they are going to shoot.
